Turn on the news, and you’ll be forgiven for thinking that the prognosis for the planet is anything other than bleak. After all, we’re already beginning to see and feel the effects of climate change. However, it’s worth keeping in mind that it’s not all doom and gloom. While the scales may be tipped in the negative direction, there has been a lot of progress made in the past few years. Plus, it’s important to focus on the good every now and again — if we only consume the bad news, then we’ll all lose hope, and there’s nothing that’ll guarantee a bad outcome more than not.

In this post, we’ll run through four reasons to be optimistic about the climate crisis.

Clean Energy Is More Affordable Than Ever

It’s no secret that the fight against climate change will be heavily reliant on our ability to switch to clean energy. The problem, historically, has been that clean energy has been prohibitively expensive; just not enough people have been able to afford the infrastructure that weans them off non-renewable energy sources. But that’s beginning to change. Energy storage has reduced in cost by 90% over the last decade alone, and renewables are now the cheapest source of energy across the globe.

There’s still a long way to go, but we should see more people adopting renewable energy in the coming years — and that’s great news for the planet.

It’s Easier Than Ever To Go Green

The bulk of the climate responsibilities lie with multinational companies, but individuals will also need to do their part. If we all lead a green life, then the future will look much rosier. In the past, it’s been difficult for individuals to go green, in large part because they didn’t know how to go about the necessary changes. But today, there’s a wealth of information out there, such as the guidance available at The Clean Energy Life blog, that can help people make the transition. Armed with the right knowledge, more people than ever are living greener, more sustainable lives.

Public Opinion Has Shifted

It wasn’t all that long ago that people were divided on the climate change issue. Many people didn’t take the issue seriously or believed that the topic was overblown. But in a matter of ten years, public opinion has shifted. The majority of people now believe that climate change poses a real threat and should be taken seriously — and it’s usually at this stage when real action is taken.

Individual Cities Are Leading the Charge

We’ve waited a long time for world leaders to take action on the climate, and they’ve repeatedly shown they’re unable to do so. But all is not lost, because individual cities and towns are taking things into their own hands. Cities around the world are committing to becoming carbon neutral. If other cities follow suit, then it won’t matter if government leaders continue to be ineffective; the world will be in a better place because of local policies
