Apple China Solar Project

As one of the most powerful nations on the planet, China has a huge say in the way that the things are done on the global scene. However, for years China has had one major problem: its manufacturing and industrial boom has led to an environmental catastrophe. The nation is suffering from massive problems, from pollution to areas becoming close to uninhabitable.

However, Apple has stepped in to try and help China out, investing a whopping $300m into a clean energy scheme. The aim is to help power as many 1m homes from the program, which will do a lot to help reduce the scale and challenge on parts of the Chinese environment as a whole.

This latest move by Apple will help to make sure that China can do more to help clean up the nation. By helping to ‘connect suppliers with renewable energy sources’, the aim of this program is to help make sur that clean energy can become more than just a hope or an aim: but a reality.

A long-term environmental transformation

Working alongside another 10 suppliers, a $300m fund will be put together across a four-year period to help pay for this project. The aim is that, as part of the Apple “China Clean Energy Fund”, that the country can uplift its environmental standards and make China a safer and healthier nation to live in for all.

The aim is to try and produce around 1 gigawatt of renewable energy across China. Working alongside the DWS Group, this scheme should help to move China towards a more harmonious environmental policy. The hope is that, as the environment improves, China will take its requirements to keep the place nice and safe as soon as possible.

By 2020, Apple hopes to have produced more than 4 gigawats of energy through the program. This is another step forward for Apple, who have been producing a huge amount of goodwill for their commitment to clean energy.

The Supplier Clean Energy Program takes around 23 different manufacturing partners and makes sure that they use entirely clean energy. This scheme has been running since 2015, and has been a long-term success.

According to Apple, this helps to offset the global power consumption of its facilities across the world. If more can be done to help make this possible for more people, then it will only be a positive for the rest of the world.

The Chinese environmental issues are among the most significant in the modern world: the more that can be done to improve these conditions, the better. While this might just be the start, it could become something far more widespread if the effectiveness of the scheme can be proven.
