On August 5, the Obama Administration awarded a $2.4 billion grant for development of advanced battery technology. Michigan will be one of the largest recipients of this money gaining an approximate 50-percent share of the federal bucks.

A hydrogen fuel cell phone has been unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas by Motorola and Angstrom Power Incorporated. Researchers at Stanford University have discovered a new way to extend the life of a lithium-ion laptop battery from 2 hours per charge to 20 hours using nanowire technology.
